I have never farmed, being a PvP man myself, but from what I have heard, as of 2.4 they attempted to make farming obsolete. Apparently you can make rediculously more money (and other rewards) off doing dailies all over the place, or if you haven’t finished all of your quests in Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley I would reccomend that.
Other than that, if you don’t like dailies, then try Mageweave (off 30-45ish humanoids, I think) or Felcloth (off demons) farming, or try some instances you can easily run (I know LBRS is supposed to be godly for farming, just kind of hard). If you are an enchanter, you can disenchant the blues and make very much money there.
don’t just do dailies
You can’t out beat and chinese farmer.. do your daily quests make about 50g a day .
Work on your other skill or whatever. If you’re a jewlcrafter and have a high enough level you don’t need to gold farm. All you need to do is go to a big city and say JC looking to cut gems. Try winning some good armor and auction it.
