just play the game as a collector spec, herby, mining, leatherworking then make a productive 2nd proffesion, like alchemy (with herbing/inscription) mining(forging)and leather (leatherworking)
creep the AH and post your goods
Just don’t do engineering, stuffs just silly waste of money

Leveling mining and selling ore on the AH is an easy way to get gold as you go along. It’ll even be useful in the longrun, the new titansteel making miners one of the most profitable professions in the game. If you’re really going for the gold, doing both mining and herbalism makes you very good money if you’re smart about it.

Farming at low levels is never very good. the #1 way to make money on new characters would be to Pick up Mining and either Herblore or skinning. mine/herb makes the most but the conflicting tracking buttons make it difficult but what u do is any time you run around just click pack and forth from the 2 tracking spells. or if you want the easiest way, getting minign and skinning and just skin all the beasts you kill. if you level to max level with these 2 skills at the right level as the are you are in, you will have PLENTY of money by level 80.
Matt M is wrong. Mining/Herbalism is not a mistake, you can easily make a macro for a cast sequence of track mine and track herb, and just spam click it when u run, easy enough. but like i said in my post before, the “easier” way is to go skinning.

So your starting at a low level, Get mining and skinning, That’s gonna be a great way to make some money. With mining you get almost 5g a stack from copper ore, And with skinning 40s a stack of light leather, but your gonna be getting it like crazy from killing mobs. Know when you get a higher level your gonna want to forget the professions you have, and get new ones like blacksmithing or engineering THERE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! I had 375/375 eng at level 70, then with wrath of the lich king out, I leveled it to 400/450 then I left it having realized it was nothing but a BIG waste of money. Stick with skinning and mining, and you’ll have enough money to buy any gear you want. Anyways when you get skinning or mining higher you could make huge money, I.e. 100′s of gold an hour, maybe even more.
Edit: I don’t see why people are telling you to go herbalism and mining, you can only track one at a time… so basically your gonna have to keep switching the tracking button, or else your gonna miss herbs or ore… So NO what there telling you is wrong for a lower level. Anyways at a higher level you could switch skinning for herbalism since herbalism is leveled REALLY fast.
